St. Thomas! The U.S Virgin Islands is the place to be and is definitely one of those places you need to experience (maybe even retire here) to truly appreciate tropical beauty and the laid back lifestyle! It’s impossible to have a bad day on the island – unless you forget your sunscreen of course – but the island has so much beauty to offer and the vibes are totally amazing. Here is our list of things to do while enjoying your stay on the island 🙂
1. Take The Morningstar Sailing & Power Charters
Take an amazing sailing adventure with Captain Mike and First Mate Jeff during your trip to St. Thomas! You might enjoy it so much that you’ll even want to book a private sunset cruise the next day! Captain Mike and Jeff are the ultimate hosts – making everyone feel welcome, entertained and safe. They have an overwhelming abundance of knowledge of the islands, the boat and the local culture and their hospitality makes the entire experience feel like a second honeymoon. With a capacity of only six guests the day was so much more intimate and enjoyable than the bigger capacity cruise. A MUST DO if you plan to get out on the water!
2. Enjoy Magens Bay
This beach is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the island and the scenery does not disappoint! The water is a surreal blue, the sand sparkles and the surrounding forestry is beautiful. This is by far the longest beach on the island, so if you like to take a long walk along a beach, this is the place to do it! Also, it is a protected bay, so the water is calm and great for swimming – the turquoise color makes for some beautiful pictures!
3. Love Lindquist Beach
The famous beach where the “Hannah and her horse” commercials were shot at! A quiet but relaxing beach to soak in the rays and enjoy your lovers company. The parking is easy and only $10 for two people. Unfortunately there are no food or drinks so you must bring your own – but no big deal this is a great spot for a romantic picnic!
4. Snorkel Secret Harbour
This beautiful beach is a resort, but if you can find parking that’s not labeled GUEST, you can park there for free! The beach is small, but beautiful with calm, Caribbean blue waters. Be careful walking into the water, it’s rocky. The Angelfish will come up, swim around you, bump into you, and maybe even nip at you. Don’t be alarmed. They’re harmless! A fantastic snorkeling spot for sure!
5. Experience The Tree Limin’ Extreme Zipline
6. Explore Hassel Island
Nice hiking and photo opportunities as it is a private historical site that is great for exploring! There are steep hills so not for the unfit or non-able bodied so please wear appropriate shoes. Oh, also take plenty of water and sunscreen.
7. Buy Local Art At The Gallery St. Thomas
You will be extremely pleased with the selection of local art at the Gallery St. Thomas as well as all different price points. Ruth, the owner is very helpful and great knowledge of each artist. A favorite St. Thomas place to shop, fun browsing and buying. All items are by local artists. Price ranges from $10 on up for collectibles to hundreds and thousands for original watercolors and oil paintings.
8. Sit Atop Drake’s Seat
This overlook is so pretty and the water is absolutely unbelievable! A picture postcard, perfect beauty and you can see all around the island – views are breathtaking. Worth renting a car and driving around!
9. Dive The Cow and Calf
An amazing dive site where the lobsters are out in the open and sneaking out at you from their hiding places. Cow and Calf rocks are an amazing dive site that should not be missed with a huge array of sea life!
10. Snorkel Honeymoon Beach
What a wonderful place for swimming, snorkeling and just general relaxing. This beautiful beach is right outside Caneel Bay Resort which is a public beach, with perfectly clear water and in an isolated area. There are plenty of food and drinks available and you can even rent chairs or other types of water equipment. Honeymoon beach is the perfect little beach.
